Sunday #35: Almost Halfway

Valentine's Day is coming up this Tuesday which marks the halfway point of February!  For some reason, those three less days at the end of this month make it seem much shorter.  I've never been one for the holiday.  The most Valentine's Day thing I did (and will do) was seeing 50 Shades Darker this evening with the girls.  It was pretty awful, but we went to see it for laughs so no regrets.

WATCHING LATELY

Speaking of entertainment, I finished Westworld this past month.  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.  Every part of this show is pure masterful artistry.  Aside from its entertainment value, Westworld is introspective and incredibly layered.  I like it even more than Game of Thrones and I'm a person who doesn't really watch TV.  I'd also recommend the Westworld score by composer Ramin Djawad; I've been listening to it nonstop and it's extremely soothing to the ears. 

THE BLOG FRONT

Things have been a little quieter on the blog front lately, largely due to my lifestyle.  I am pretty much within the same 10 block radius all the time which isn't exciting to write about (or for you to read).  I have post ideas jotted down, but also suffer from some writer's block.  Ah!  In other blog news, I installed Disqus and then removed it.  I have issues from syncing to no comment link showing up on new posts.  Awful. 

GAINS

In line with my resolutions, I've managed to make it to the gym 4 times this week.  I squatted 135 lbs, which is a personal record for me!  I can't extol the virtues of resistance training enough: I'm stronger, bigger, and more muscular.  I love working on getting stronger and seeing what my body can do.  Definitely starting this Monday off with a workout!

  1. This is the second blog I've seen mentioning Westworld today - might have to watch it! Haha my friend wanted to see 50 Shades for laughs but she doesn't want to give it money, so she was thinking of buying tickets to another cinema but sneaking into that one instead...

  2. ahhh nice to hear that you made it to the gym 4 times a week! inspired me! I've skipped gym for 3 months now and I feel bad! Feels good to be stronger, bigger and more muscular, right? Keep up the good work girl :)

  3. I keep meaning to start Westworld but so many things, so little time as they say. You're my ~fitness inspiration~ / I did a mild workout yesterday and while it did make me a bit sick, the good sore feeling is coming out today. I need to work on my strength given my weaker-than-weak body. Also, dang it for Disqus not working well :( tbh I think you're fine with Blogger's comments, and the only thing I like about Disqus is that it notifies you when you get a reply!

  4. I can hardly believe we're midway through February already! We'll be spending Valentine's dog sitting for Harvey's Mum and heading to the cinema because we never go anymore, heh. Of course we're seeing La La Land ;) I've been making more of a concerted effort to start my days with an hour's workout lately and I really do feel so much more alive when I've done so!

  5. February always seems to fly by! Three / two days doesn't seem like too much when you look at it objectively and yet 28 days in a month makes it seem so much shorter!

    Shame about the Disqus, but it wasn't too painful to remove? I had read some horror stories about losing all your comments with the removal so now I feel like I am stuck with it for life...

  7. ah my february will always be spend with john wick so bby keanu here i come! ;D shame that we have no 50 shades here. i was looking forward just for the sake of bashing it hahah /rude/ but i'm glad you had fun!

    too bad disqus didn't work out for you :( guess you had too many to lose. i still have trouble syncing but i just don't bother to fix it. i guess the sooner you install it the better.

    i'm glad you enjoyed westworld as much as i did! gotta admit the reason i watched it was because of ramin djawadi. i mean, i just worship his works T_T and damn gurl, for making it to the gym! definitely kudos. i'm proud of you <3

  8. I loved Westworld. Such an amazing show. I am still watching Game of Thrones, but I took a break from it because I basically watched 5 seasons in a few days. I recommend Black Mirror. it's an amazing show <3

  9. You've inspired me to workout more, I did some pilates at the weekend and my stomach hurts every time I laugh haha. I liked the idea of being stronger as well, I have been eating more healthy though which is a start :)

  10. Congrats on your workouts! I need to kick myself in a butt and start working out as well. Also, it's a shame that you have been having problems with Disqus as it is such a nice platform in my mind.
    I haven't heard about Westworld but now I'm really tempted to give it a go. By the way, I'm going to see 50 Shades Darker with my friends tomorrow and I don't know what to expect, haha. I haven't watched or read the first movie and I'm really not into this kind of things but just like you I'm going for the laugh, so let's hope that I'll get it :)

  12. Reading this pretty much inspired me to really head to the gym tomorrow. It's a struggle for me to even to make it to the gym for ONE day. Teach me your ways!

    Also - re: Disqus, I've been having that problem too! So if you ever find the fix for it (or anyone out there), help a sister out!
